TasBlocker helps college students and young professionals stay focused and productive with their school/work related tasks while providing a sense of reward. I wanted to design with personality and show my visual design skills.

User Research
I had two users fill out a survey and provide feedback as they progressed with their tasks. This survey helped identify potential features to include to keep users productive. Here are the findings and insights.
Allow users to select multiple tasks simultaneously.
Let users choose how long breaks are.
Allow for customization of task.
Include a feature to block phone notifications for better focus.
Make tasks feel fun and rewarding to alleviate anxiety and encourage completion.
Color and Type
Colors were chosen for a fun, youthful, and exciting feel. M+ Rounded 1c was chosen to match this playful tone, and both M+ Rounded 1c and M+ 1p were selected for their extreme legibility and readability.

Final Designs
Drawing from my insights, I designed core screens to demonstrate how the application helps users stay focused, productive, and rewarded when completing school or work tasks.
Based on their selected mood, users can choose when to take a productive break and return to their task or continue working to maintain productivity.
What I Learned
This project challenged my assumptions and pushed me out of my comfort zone in product design.
I originally had a lot of assumptions of what users would prefer, but through research, I was able to validate or refine these assumptions and design a solution that truly addresses user needs and enhances their productivity.
Product design can include vibrant colors when appropriate to the project’s context.
